Robert J. Jackson
October 18, 1935 - February 22, 2008
Savannah – Robert J. Jackson, 72, surrounded by his family, joined his departed loved ones on Friday February 22nd at home in Savannah, Georgia.
Born in Glen Cove, N.Y. , Bob attended Sea Cliff H.S and was a long time resident of Glen Head, N.Y. He honorably served in the U.S. Army 8th infantry tank division in Europe from 1954 to 1962. He married in 1959 and worked for the N.Y. Telephone Company, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the NYTel Pioneer division. He served as president of Glen Head, Glenwood Landing Little League for many years. In 1996 he moved to Atco, N J then in 1998 to Savannah, GA, where the touched many with his presence. If you spoke with him you befriended him. He never met a stranger and we will all miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen L. Jackson. He is survived by his sister Joan Chancler, Calabash North Carolina, children Barbara Jackson Byrne Tom, Alan J. Jackson Elizabeth, Scott R. Jackson Holli 4 grandchildren, Thomas R. Byrne, Troy S. Byrne, Turner A. Byrne and Courtney N. Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on February 25th at St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church 590 Walthour Road Wilmington Island, Savannah Georgia.
